Counterpoint and Harmony
The software to assist you in your music composition.
For hundreds of years, Counterpoint and Harmony have been the basis of music composition. Jazz, rock, classical, choral, gospel, Barbershop and show tunes music are also based on these principles. Even modern electronic music uses the basic concepts of harmony. This software is a harmony assistant. With it you will have the tools to create solid and rich harmonic and melodic structures that will give new dimensions and colors to your music compositions.
When you use it in combination with Pizzicato Choir this software will help you to harmonize a melody quickly. It will work with you interactively to create the melodic lines for each part. You will be able to produce custom arrangements for your songs. You will be surprised at the ease with which you will produce beautiful sounding arrangements.
Starting from your melody or importing a melody from a MIDI file, the software will propose note by note, (or groups of notes at a time), the possible combinations for the other voices. By listening to the suggestions at any time, you select the note combination which best suites your inspiration. Using this method, you will easily create a final arrangement that respects the rules of harmony and corresponds to your musical expression.
Additionally, you can select the sounds of instruments from a quality sound library, according to the style or genre of the music you want to compose.
When you’re finished, print your composition or export it as a PDF file, a MIDI file, a MusicXML file or directly into an audio WAV file. This way you can work your composition further into any software (like Pizzicato) appropriate to your musical style.
And to take your harmony concepts further, once the harmonic structure is established, create rhythmic variations to make the bass more percussive or to add motion and interest to the other instruments or voices.
This harmony software will help you to work with fifth chords, sixth chords, sixth and fourth chords, dominant seventh chords as well as the other types of seventh chords. The rules of counterpoint can be used for 2, 3 or 4 voices.
This harmony assistant is an ideal companion to a harmony or counterpoint course! And, if you’re a teacher, this software will help you write exercises in an interactive way. Additionally, it will detect the most common errors made in harmonization such as parallel fifths and octaves, incomplete chords, dissonant intervals, notes exceeding the range of a voice, and so on.
